Empowering Lives

LA Conservation Corps empowers young adults with paid job training, education, and support services to help them build a brighter future.

Our Corps members gain hands-on experience in conservation, urban forestry, recycling, and disaster response while making a positive impact in their communities. Whether planting trees, restoring public lands, or responding to natural disasters, they’re transforming their environment—and their own lives.

What Would Jesus Do? Tackle the Housing Crisis, Say Some Congregations

LA Voice leader Rev. Victor Cyrus-Franklin, Pastor of Holman UMC and Supervising Pastor for Affordable Housing Development at Inglewood First UMC was interviewed by the New York Times. Pastor Vic, as he is lovingly known, spoke about Inglewood First UMC’s affordable housing project, which is being supported by LA Voice’s Faith in Housing Project.

The article also quotes LA Voice leader Brooke Wirtshafter, Director of Community Organizing at IKAR, and member of PICO California’s Statewide Leadership Team. IKAR, an LA Voice member congregation, is also working on an affordable housing project, and was critical to our win on SB 4, the Affordable Housing on Faith Lands Act.

Article by article and brick by brick, we are changing the way people think about affordable housing and the roles communities of faith can play in creating them.
