I have been attending RootsCamp in Second Life.
RootsCamp is getting progressives together to get feedback on what did and didn't work in the 2006 election, and they are mostly having real world meetings. These meetings in Second life have been quite interesting. I think amazing things can happen when activists can hold virtual meetings and discuss their strategies and get help, from like-minded people from around the country and the world.

Google calendar and spreadsheets, good use of ActBlue http://www.actblue.com/ early on. They also used Salesforce http://www.salesforce.com/ for the most important calendar stuff
These meetings will go on today, with followups, in the Better World Sim.
