OK, is it just me, or has the LA Times taken a small step closer to being USA Today with some California coverage?
When I first glanced at the new front page around 7:30 this morning, I thought the blockiness of it seemed charmingly retro. When I came back home later, awake, it just seemed, um, focus grouped into banality. Do the folks at Tribune really think that the answer to their problems in LA is reformatting? (Pay no attention to the words...look at al those pretty colors!) Maybe it's just me, but perhaps a little more money on, um, what do you call them, reporters, might be more valuable...
Kevin Drum blames it on the "J-Consultant Mafia." And he has a few choice snarks aimed at the shrinking front page news hole...
Anyone out there like the new look?
