L.A. newsmedia (including LAVoice) have avoided covering this one to date, but today a Toronto radio show called Bad Cop, No Donut reports that an LAPD officer has been recommended for termination because he was having sex with strippers while on duty.
The 61MB podcast by CKLN-FM unspools the story of LAPD officer Scott Druyun, who was brought up on charges at an internal Board of Rights hearing after his wife learned that he and his partner were frequenting a strip bar in uniform and then taking the dancers to an empty construction site nearby for sex ...
The podcast, ("Your weekly wrap-up of North American police brutality, misconduct and corruption") includes a phone call with LAPD confirming the charges and the fact that Druyun's job is at stake, and an extended interview with Druyun's wife, who turned him in.
Michelle Druyun tells interviewer Ron Anicich that she filed charges alleging that her husband also beat her in January in the midst of the LAPD internal affairs investigation of the sex casse, but another phone interview confirms that the L.A. District Attorney's Office declined to prosecute.
A decision by LAPD on whether to terminate the officer is several months away, according to the report. He's still at work.
