  South Central Living: Introduction

Sure there is affordable property in L.A. Have you tried South Central?

So you don't want to spend $500k on a 'tear down' in Santa Monica.? There ARE options, if you don't mind hearing a little semi-automatic gunfire. But hell, you get that in Venice where condos start in the mid $300k's.

I moved to South Central at the end of August, 2003, and now I am going to (try) to keep up a blog series of my experience ...
NEIGHBORHOODS
Jump ahead, today, starting my entry numero uno... what should I name this series?

Honky in the Hood?
Mr. Whitey Goes to Watts?
The Reginald Denny Diaries?

Slurs aside, none of these titles capture the idea for my blogging, which is this:

To chronicle the experiences of a white, ivy-league-trained architect, his public school teacher wife, and their five-year-old son moving into a former crack house somewhere in the vicinity of Watts (i.e. somewhere between 'bad' and 'worse' to those of you who never venture south of Pico or east of the 405.)

How about, South Central Living? Hmmm, it smacks of a little Martha Stewart and a little Tupac Shakur. It's a start.
