  Promenade Parking Tool: Useful?
1979 Reads

Can you picture yourself using this? The City of Santa Monica just launched a web site that lets you find open parking spaces in city garages and lots.

Each garage in the satellite-view map has a rollover popup showing the address, hours, fees and capacity, and clicking on a map shows you how many spaces are available.

But with no WAP version for mobile devices, you can't exactly use the site to cruise the streets during peak hours and navigate your way to an open space.

Or are you meant to log in from home, then race through rush-hour traffic and hope to snag one of the last 9 spots in the 4th street garage? Just saying.
