Thursday: IAAL-MAF Bike Assault on Griffith Observatory
3141 Reads
Ruthless and violent as they are, the members of the fictitious International Association of Armed Librarians - Mobile Assault Force bike gang are preparing. They're sharpening broken spokes , pocketing handfuls of tacks and taping handgrips onto double-length, filth-smeared bike chains in anticipation of the upcoming Take Back Griffith Observatory Ride on Thursday night.
If you need to learn more about the IAAL-MAF, I believe a representative of "Homeland Security" came to BarCamp last weekend and gave a fairly serious presentation (3.4MB .PDF) outlining their activities as a terrorist organization ...
It's unclear what they're planning to do once they reach the gorgeously restored Observatory - something was mentioned about walking around and taking too many pictures and saying "wow" a lot - but I'm digging around for a recording of that presentation, and will post it here as soon as I find it.
Or you could just read the report on the IAAL-MAF's last invitational ride , or Will Campbell's preview here .
Meantime, here are the details on Thursday's ride: TIME: Gather at 6:30 p.m.; Ride at 7 p.m.
STARTS & ENDS: Crystal Street at Fletcher in Atwater Village (map )
HOW FAR: 15.5 miles (route ) Dress warm, carry water, be prepared to make a 1,000-foot upward elevation change, and bring lights .
