No huge changes in the landscape of Mayoral Race 2005, but here's our previous report, for those keeping score.
Now, without further ado - proof that the dog days of summer are upon the race for the mayoralty. As played out on the web, the campaign for the March, 2005 election has slowed to a snoozing slumber:
Richard Alarcon - No campaign web site yet.
Mayor James K. Hahn - Nothing new to replace his 3-year-old campaign site at JimHahn.org .
Walter Moore - Busy man. Trying on a new slogan: "Make Moore Mayor of L.A. In The March 2005 Election Because Career Politicians Suck" Latest stance - Opposing the half-cent sales tax for law enforcement, on grounds that:
Putting the measure on the ballot ... would send the wrong message to businesses: move to Orange County or Riverside. Moore also noted that, according to the County's own statistics, the Supervisors could save at least $500 million per year by deporting illegal aliens.
Someone using Moore's address sent out an email invitation to a July 31 Dog Beach Rally with a JPEG attachment, Moore followed it with an email warning people not to open the attachment since he didn't know what was in it - then sent out another email saying, "As per the subject line, there IS a dog beach rally in Santa Monica starting on Saturday, July 31, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. under the pier. " Draw your own conclusions about how things are going in the campaign office.
Bernard Parks - No discernible change: Still no information on the Calendar, Events, Committee, Issues, Photos or Supporters pages. The little gavel atop this story is the only sign of movement at BernardParks.com.
Antonio Villaraigosa - Curiouser and curiouser: Villaraigosa.com - once dark - now resolves to the councilman's 2003 campaign site. Meanwhile, these three domains are still available:
