LAVoice.org FAQs (frequently-asked questions)

Category: Main -> HOW DO I POST STORIES ON LAVOICE.ORG?

Question

Answer

How do I post a story?

Posting at LAVoice is easy.

Anyone can post comments. It's usually best to log in first so that your name is attached to your comments.

People who have logged in can post news, subject to our rules for posting. Here's how:

First you must log in here and then return to the home page by clicking on the LAVoice logo at the top left of the page.

Then click the SUBMIT NEWS link you'll see on the right, under the "Main Menu" header.

Fill in the form you'll see on the Submit News page. Make sure to add a Title, select an appropriate Topic.

Type or paste the first two paragraphs or so of your post into the Article Text box

Put the rest of your post into the Extended Text box.

Click the Preview button and proofread your text to make sure you've said everything the way you want to say it, spelled things correctly and check your links if you've added URLs.

Then click SUBMIT.

Note - Posts will be published ONLY if your real name is attached in the login process. If you used a pseudonym, we'll write asking for your full name. Here's why.

If your post does not appear within six hours or so, please drop us a line. It's possible you submitted news without logging in, and we cannot publish your words without your login name.

How do I make links?

Links are EXTREMELY important at LAVoice. They drive our users toward more information and broader opinions on the subject you're posting about.

Here's how to write a link. Be extremely careful to include every character exactly as you see it. If you leave spaces in the code or fail to close a tag, you can make your entire post after the bad link invisible, completely linked, or worse:

Replace the phrase URL with the link you want people to reach, and TEXT HERE with the text that you want to make clickable:

In other words, this link to LAVoice's home page would be written like this:
